In this case it is the seperation of presentation and content.A transitional DTD allows these elements to exists within the document itself and allows for as its name implies - a transition from loosely compliant document to a more compliant structure.A frameset DTD is used simply for documents defining a page containing a frameset.Thanks,

Usually with new projects I shoot for Strict and a lot of times it is difficult to take existing projects from Transitional without major effort.
